tier 1 visa (council tax discount)

Post by web_hero » Sun May 15, 2011 12:35 am

Hi there,

I am on work permit and working in IT Company. My wife came to uk in Feb 2010. few month while she was in UK i was still getting 25% single person discount.

I informed to council after 3 month after she join me. I am paying full bill from last 12 months now. Please guide me shall I informed them now and make the correction of last year bill or leave it.

I donot want to claim any benefit. Thank

John

When you informed the Council that your wife had moved in, did you tell them when she moved in?

Hi..
I am in similar situation as well.....
My wife had joined me last August.....but i had informed council this Jan.....Hence atleast 4 months were i was still claiming 25% discount.

I am not sure whether i should ge them back dated or it should be OK as council tax is not required for claiming extension...........

Is there any anyone who's visa was rejected because of council tax?

I need advice as i need to go for extension next month..........

Cheers

The good news is that the 25% single occupancy discount on Council Tax is not within the definition of Public Funds.
