british passport quistion

i dont know its the right place or not for asking it but im asking on behalf of my friend, he wants to apply for british passport (first time) and he has two pakistani passport aswell one expired on which he first entered to uk with expired spouce visa, second one is valid with ilr sticker, the quistion is which passport should he send to ips as a supporting ducoment, (as form saying that passport on which u entered but thats expired) a bit confusion
any help
plz let me know if im saying anything incorrect

He needs to send both (see page 15 of the guide).
