Hello,
It is possible that a question similar to this has been asked before. I am new here so I am not sure if the topic belongs to this forum so I apologize if it's not.
I have a question about who qualifies as a Refugee for US immigration, and according to what the criteria is on www.uscis.gov, I'm not sure if I qualify.
I am a Palestinian Refugee with a Travel Document issued by Lebanon's General Directorate of Security. This travel document states that I am a refugee on it and it doesn't really give me any rights in Lebanon, it's just a document I can use for traveling, basically.
I currently reside in the United Arab Emirates but I am not a national of the country, I just have a residence permit that I must renew every 3 years. Also, I don't get much rights as a resident or as a Palestinian Refugee. I have been a resident of the U.A.E. for 24 years and I still need don't have any citizenship rights, only those pertaining to the residence permit (and actually, being a Palestinian refugee, I don't really get as many rights as other foreign inhabitants would or do.) Of course, I am not allowed to go back to my country of origin. Having no actual citizenship or real country to go back to has been a problem for me in many ways.
However, having lived in the U.A.E. as a resident, do I still qualify to apply for a Green Card through Refugee Status?
