Immigration status for newborn

Post by Topaz » Mon May 23, 2011 8:15 pm

I have a 4month old baby (born in UK and currently in UK) and just received his passport and I am currently applying for Tier 1 extension. One of the questions on the application form ask for immigration status. What is the immigration status for my baby as he has no visa yet as I have just received his passport? Does he automatically get leave to remain status in UK? If not, what immigration status do I fill in on the Tier 1 extension form?

the baby would be your dependant and so a Tier1 Dependant visa would be needed.

I have recently applied for my extension in the same situation as yours.

I have done the following after checking UKBA customer service.

1) Put immigration status as nothing and stated in the box that Child born in the UK.
2)Put a covering letter saying that the Child was born the in the UK and this is her first application .Mentioned that have left few columns related to immigration status as N/A because of this.
3)Attached her birth certificate

I have my BIometrics on June 28th so these are my 2 cents
