I have never claimed unemployment benefit (never being off work) however as I had an operation last year I received illness benefit for the time I could not work as my employer did not pay me anything for that time.
Would anybody know if that has some bearing on the citizenship application? I do not think it should because it will be very unfair but still wonder….
Illness benefits do not affect your assessment for naturalization. You have nothing to worry about.

Marisa, as I understand it, your files are with the minister. My guess here is that you should have it before the end of May 2011.
Wait and see.

There seems to be a delay in the files coming back from ministers office. I've been told that mine is with minister for the last 8 weeks. So hopefully there will be good news for all when the minister clears out his desk.
Good luck to all.

It probably has something to do with the visit of the Queen and Obama. Thankfully, that's over now. Hopefully things will return back to normal soonest.

to Latan:
You never mentioned, did u apply on a normal 5 y permit basis? Not a spouse or anything?
Do you think your solicitor has helped much or it would have been same if u had applied yorself?

From our experience it should not affect your application. My spouse was on illness benefit for months and went back to work shortly before she got her approval

Hi Tuner,
If you meet all the conditions set for naturalisation application there is no need to go through solicitor. Had applied for me and mrs without any solicitor (only got documents stamped for a tenner) and got approval on similar timelines published here.

guys what ever you think but i guess Latan is just putting a rumour on this website thats why he cannot tell that his approval will be scheduled by new system or old.
he must be laughing on your exiting questions.

Congrats to all those who recently got their approval letters. Great to see some 2009 applicants getting positive responses.
Just a reminder request for people to update their info at
http://www.editgrid.com/user/scrudu/citizenship_apps so others can see the current processing time-frames. Thanks a lot!

Looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like as far as 2009 applicants are concerned, for those who have applied on the basis of living and working in Ireland on work permit/work visa , Jan-09 seems to be the last application date where approval was given.
The other 2009 applicants who have got approval are those who have applied on the basis of Irish spouse or who are minors.
