Class 2 National Insurance for Tier 1 Extension

Post by h1b||tier1 » Tue May 24, 2011 6:42 pm

Hi

I am having a Tier 1 General visa. This visa is coming up for renewal in 2012. I am an IT contractor and am working through my own limited company. My earnings are in terms of dividend and directors salary (Min allowed personal income tax friendly salary) from the company.

Do I need to pay Class 2 National Insurance?
Is Class 2 National Insurance mandatory for Tier 1 visa extension?

I have my NI Number, but I am not paying any national insurance at the moment. Please advice asap.

Cheers..

No, and no.

As a Director your earnings are liable for Class 1 NI contributions .... even if the liability is at 0%!
