confusion about new rules

Post by rocksns » Tue May 24, 2011 4:18 pm

Hi
I am graduate in commerce. Now i want to do higher course in my field. Someone recommended me Cambridge Western Academy (birmingham) which is rated A Trusted college and the course is Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management duration 1 year. Awarding body NCC Education. I am confused about this college wether it is publicly funded (university)or Govt. college. can i bring my depandants (husband and infant) with me. As i go through new rules which says:
#Only postgraduate students at universities and government-sponsored students will be able to bring their dependants. At the moment, all students on longer courses can bring their dependants
#Students at universities and publicly funded further education colleges will retain their current work rights, but all other students will have no right to work. We will place restrictions on work placements in courses outside universities.
when will these rules come in force (in april or july)
Please do reply me as soon as possble...
Thanks

The new rules are set to come into effect in July but the government has not announced exactly the rules in detail so it is not possible to advise with complete accuracy. However, from the information you have posted about your circumstances and the information available on the new rules on working and bringing dependents under tier 4:

- Cambridge Western Academy is not a publicly funded university or higher education institution as defined by the UKBA in the statement of intent- If you study at this institution and are not government sponsored you will not be able to bring your dependent
- You will not have the right to work.

The above applies assuming you are not currently in the UK as a tier 4 student/under the old student rules as the new rules will apparently only apply to those making an intitial application as a student.

you can apply 3 months before the course starts. Fixed term deposits/bonds are not accepted as evidence of cash funds.

I think you will find that Indian fixed deposits are counted as cash

are you dependents here with you at the moment?

Where are you going to be studying - is it a private college or a publicly funded university?

How long is youe new course?
