uk visit visa for marriage

Post by casey bird rafferty » Thu May 26, 2011 12:58 pm

Hi I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what documents/evidence i can supply with my application for a uk marriage visitor visa to ensure it is approved first time without any hiccups. I have a original letter from registry office to state that a booking has been made and i have receipt of payment for that booking. Along with application form and proof of my funds what else are they expecting with application? Can anyone help or has anyone been in this situation before??

Cheers

Can you first confirm that 'marriage visit visa' is what you need? You intend to return to your home country after the wedding?

Post by casey bird rafferty » Thu May 26, 2011 1:14 pm

yes i plan to return as i am employed full time and need to save more money so i can then put in application for a spouse visa where i hope to return to uk to live with partner. My partner has a child in uk (belfast) and i need to be able to move there until we can make arrangement to migrate back to australia in years to come

The main point the ECO will be looking for is evidence that you will leave the UK before your marriage visit visa expires...i.e that you don't intend to use this as a 'cheaper' means to enter and then overstay. So submit evidence of continuing employment such as a letter from your employer agreeing to you taking leave and confirming your job will be kept open until your return.

wow thankyou for your quick reply!! i already have a letter from employer stating my leave dates and my return dates, it also sates my income. Is there anything else you can suggest?? Do i need to submit docs that show we are a couple, like photos, emails, phone records...or any of my partners financial docs such as mortgage papers, payslips, bank statements?? or does that come later in the spousal visa application??? I will be staying with him in his house in belfast so will they require evidence of my accom...im pretty much paying for everything myself and have bank statements and payslips to prove my funds. The only things i dont have are his documents...as he is in belfast i would need him to post all that very sensitive material to me...will they require this on this particular occassion???

I would submit everything possible to show you intend to return to Australia. Do you own property there? Have any other ties apart from your employment?

i do not own property in uk (belfast) my partner owns a house there but its his house and not in my name at all. I own a car here but live with my parents. I would be staying at my partners house while i was in uk (belfast). I have been back in australia since last nov (2010). He has visited me in australia in jan/feb of this year and we have been having long distance relationship since then. i suppose i could get him to send his mortgage papers but im not sure what that will prove?? that i have accommodation while there??? So bascially its about what documents I can provide to show I will return...and the rest will just be supportive evidence that we actually have a relationship??

Sorry, I may not have been clear. I was referring to property you may own in Australia. At this stage, the focus won't be on whether the relationship is genuine as you don't intend to remain in the UK after the wedding. i.e in excess of your visa duration.
If you do choose to submit anything from the UK which you're concerned may not be returned to you, or lost in transit, original documents can be certified by a solicitor and the certified copies submitted.
The evidence to support the strength of the relationship and adequate accommodation, finances etc will be required when you submit your spouse visa application later on.
The marriage visit visa application form should list the documents you need to submit in order to meet the UKBA regulations.
