Urgent OCI queries

Post by query2011 » Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:43 am

Hi,

I am applying for OCI for my family very soon and have a few urgent queries.

1. The instructions on the HCI London web site mentions all documents to be submitted in duplicate. Does this mean that we need to submit two copies of Part-A for each person and two copies of Part-B for the family? My local photographer charged me exhorbitantly (2 photos for £14.99) and I wanted to know whether I have to use both the photos.

2. For minor children, the instruction says "the parent" has to do the attestation in each page. Does this mean that only parent (i.e the first applicant) need to attest the children's document photocopies? or should it be attested by both parents?

3. In Part-B, they ask for details of relatives living in India. Given that we all have many relatives in India, how many relatives are we expected to mention in Part-B? Realistically there is space for only one relative in that query in Part-B. Are we supposed to use additional sheet for this information?

4. For photocopies of documents to be attached, for revoked/cancelled Indian passports, should we submit photocopy of every page that has any stamp - the instruction says first page, last page, any page with observation. I am not entirely clear what all is included in "observation". There are certain pages in the passport specifically marked as "Observation".

5. For photocopy of British passport details, is the photocpy of the photo page (which has ALL the personal details as well) sufficient? i.e. one page of the british passport is sufficient? any other pages from the British passport required?

Many Thanks for your help in advance.

Based on my experience and those of some of my friends -
Yes, because one copy is sent to India and one is maintained by the HCI. So take two copies of all documents for each person (so 2 copies for you, 2 copies for your spouse and 2 copies for each of your children). Photos have to match the specs mentioned on the HCI website. 51x51 mm, light background (not white). Follow these else your application would not be accepted or can get delayed.

2. For minor children, the instruction says "the parent" has to do the attestation in each page. Does this mean that only parent (i.e the first applicant) need to attest the children's document photocopies? or should it be attested by both parents?
One parent will suffice.
3. In Part-B, they ask for details of relatives living in India. Given that we all have many relatives in India, how many relatives are we expected to mention in Part-B? Realistically there is space for only one relative in that query in Part-B. Are we supposed to use additional sheet for this information?
Fill in parents or in-laws. More than that is not required
I submitted all pages, even if they were blank

5. For photocopy of British passport details, is the photocpy of the photo page (which has ALL the personal details as well) sufficient? i.e. one page of the british passport is sufficient? any other pages from the British passport required?
Just the photo-detail page.
