Maintenane Funds for dependent Visa --Tier 1

Post by kakkereni » Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:48 pm

Hi

I am in Uk from May 6th 2011 and need to apply for Dependent visa for my Son who is born in India

My Wife has already got the tier 1 as we applied together, visa valid till 2012 july

The question is with regards to maintenance funds

How much funds do i need to show for dependent visa(it's less than 12 months for me in UK)

do i need to show 2800+1600+1600 or

800+1600+1600 as maintenance funds and very important thing is

I have some amount in Indian bank(Rupees) and some in UK(Pounds)

Can i show both as maintenance funds or do i need to transfer the indian amount into uk pounds and show as maintenance funds

Please please response is needed

Regards
Ravi

Your Wife is is on Tier 1 general or tier 1 general dependent.

If she is on tier 1 dependent. Then to be on the safe side I will show 2800(for yourself) plus 1600 for your wife and 1600 for your son.

There are different version of maintenance fund for yourself......ideally it shd be only 800 however there has been rejections with this hence I suggest 2800. Today another member has posted a letter from home office telling that there is no need to show maintenance fund for self at all while applying for dependent.

Given the different version I will go for 2800 for self.

The maintenance money you can show from any number of bank and in any currency(even from different country). However for simplicity one bank would work the best. In case you go with multiple bank/currency do not forget to write a nice cover letter explaining it.

Cheers,
Jacob
