Do you have to supply a photocopy of each supporting document (as well as the 'original') when applying?

It says this on here http://www.ukvacpk.com/howtoapply.aspx

yes because they will want to keep the copied set of papers and return the originals to you.

Ugh. I spent ages copying a set for myself, looks like I'll have to do it again before I send them.

Do I have to do copies of copies? E.g I have some attested passport copies...
Can I miss out things I don't particulary mind not getting back?
