Following is the day at the PEO:
- Had an appointment for 1330 for SET O (from Tier 1 General), was carrying with me the new ILR form (version 04/2011)
- reached the PEO at 1245, had to undergo a airport style security check
- straight to the reception (counter 7) where they issued me number, was asked to be seated
- got called in 5 minutes (to counter 6), but the first thing they told that the form that I had was an old one, a new form from Friday (10th June) was in effect. I was given a printout of the new form, in which I had to rewrite all the details
- at around 1345 I managed to submit (at counter 5) the application with the new form and all the supporting documents - no questions asked at this stage - I did ask them that I was carrying the photocopies of all and if they want the same but the declined to take it
- around 1515 an officer called me over to let me know that my case will now be looked into and in around 45 minutes i will come to know of the outcome - still no questions asked
- Exactly at 1600, I was called and said that my ILR is successful and that the passports with the visa stamped will be handed over in 15 minutes
- At 1615, the passports (self and dependants) was handed over - no questions asked at all - but was expecting a straightforward as I feel my was straight/simple case.
Had submitted the following documents:
- 12 months salary slip
- 12 months bank statement
- Savings statement (ISA) to be on the safer side
- Company's reference letter (had been with the same company for the past 5 years)
- Life in UK pass certificates for self and wife
- For cohabitation - I submitted the council bills for the past 5 years, a tenancy agreement, a letter which was addressed to my wife from the surgery, and a gym registration letter which mentioned my wife's name and the same address. Just for info - my gut feel is that for cohabitation, any documents addressed to your dependant should do.
Thats it, a straight forward day (nearly but for rewriting the new version of the Set O form), staff at Sheffield was great and watched the Murray v/s Tsonga tennis match while I waited at the reception.
For everybody from my experience, just make sure you check (a night before you're due for the appointment) that the form is the latest one - might save your time.
Cheers
