Post by twinkle44 » Tue Jun 07, 2011 5:08 pm

hai to all please provide some information regarding my travel to abroad during Naturalisation process. Can i travel to my home country during this process,i had submited my application in april 2nd week . I rang the concern department and they told me it will take 3-6 months due to more applications under process .Mean while they also said i will be in trouble if i get my naturalisation process complete during my journey ,because they will allow only 3 weeks time to respond aftr letter of approval will be send to home and after that my current passport will be no longer active ,which makes my arrival at airport nightmare ..so please provide me some detailed information regarding this ..

Thanks & Regards in advance .

The suggestion that your current passport will not remain valid is not accurate. Because you do not become a British citizen until such time that a naturalisation certificate is issued to you at the citizenship ceremony. And, your current passport may even remain valid after you become a British citizen if the laws of country of your present citizenship allow so!

This said, you must attend a citizenship ceremony within 90 days of receiving an invite. Also, booking an appointment within 3 weeks of receiving an invite (if such a condition exists) shouldn't be a problem if there is someone to receive the letter at home while you are abroad. You can get the necessary details from the person at home and call the council from abroad to book an appointment to attend the ceremony within the 90 day time frame.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
