Child benefit and tax credit

Post by Vik12 » Tue Jun 14, 2011 11:32 pm

I got my ilr today just need to ask can I apply for child benefit and tax credit for my wife with no job and 4years old daughter.
Does it make any problem in future if I will take these benefits for my citizenship?

Vik12, I detect two questions in your post, so in order I reply ..... yes ... no !

When applying for those benefits there is a question something like "Did you cease to be subject to immigration control in the last 3 months?". You will need to answer that "Yes" and give details of the date you got your ILR.

The point is that ordinarily a claim can be backdated for up to 3 months, but for you the backdating will be back to your ILR date, assuming of course you apply within 3 months of getting the ILR.
