question about eligibility

Post by werby » Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:34 pm

Hi guys. We're couple, Eastern Europeans, both in full employment for years, with gross yearly income of 15k each. My wife is pregnant and we are trying to work out how much help we could get when she is off work for probably 2-3 years after babe is born.
We've already tried number of websites including gov.uk but they all seem to be quite confusing.
So with only me working full time and earning 15k a year we could get what?
We also have £2000 savings.

According to gov.uk:
Child Tax Credit: 44.10 p/w
Child Benefit: 20 p/w
Cauncil Tax Benefit 3.21 p/w
TOTAL: 67.31 p/w

How about LHA or HB? Are we eligible for any of them?

To be honest I can't see us renting 2 bed flat for £600 with combined monthly income of around £1260 per month.
Thanks for any help and advice.
Peter and Kasia.

This is not an immigration query, however try using this website as it also calculates housing benefit eligibility.
