Company Transfer from UK to US

Post by captain74 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 4:18 pm

Hi

There are possibilities for me to get a transfer from UK to US within the current comapny.

I am wondering if there is a specific VISA category for this or if this would be on H1B. Can some one please help?

Also, if there is a separate visa category, what does it mean in terms of eligibility and time frame for applying for a Green Card?

Many thanks

I would have thought your employer would know of the relevant visa category pursuant to said transfers being a feature of the organisation. L1 class comes to mind but so does E Treaty visa. L1 best for GC purposes but even then it has to be L1A - executive level. There are strict conditions for issuance of L1's particularly those relating to a clear demonstration that the two branches have an appropriate relationship e.g. subsidiary etc.

Thanks kayalami

Actually it is not a feature of the organisation and I am currenbtly trying to portray this as a good thing for Management Development. So far there has been enough interest from those who matter but I need more info to make the transfers a reality.

Can you please provide me with any links to info on L1 and L1A?

Info should be on the Department of State site (visa section) - use any search engine.
