"No Recourse To Public Funds" (Exceptions)

Post by AICHA 1 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:33 pm

I was wondering if someone could give me advice regarding the above topic.
My husband has been in UK (he is Tunisian) since August 1st last year. Since coming he has only been able to find a couple of temp positions. He is currently unemployed and is desperate to work but everywhere he tries he is met with beloved.
He recently applied for JSA on the grounds that TUNISIA has a SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT WITH UK everywhere i look online it staes he should be entitled to some income based JSA however his application was refused on the grounds his passport says "No Recourse To Public Funds" They completely ignored the Exceptions.
I myself was made redundant from work at the end of April and currently looking for employment. I also have several medical conditions including M.E and am registered disabled. I am currently in receipt of JSA in my own right and solely for myself (not joint)
If anyone knows about this or can give me advice it would be immensely appreciated...as to where he stands

TUNISIA has a SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT WITH UK
Has it? Are you sure? Can you please provide a link on the internet that proves there is such an agreement?

There are exceptions for Tunisians, but this does not include access to income based JSA:

Contribution based JSA is not on the list of public funds, but he may not have made enough contributions.

Where are you looking online? Can you post the links?
