Applying for a tier1 and tier4 visa

Hi,

I have submitted an application for a tier 4 student visa. I understand that the maximum period of time prior to course start date they can allow me to enter the UK is 1 month, and I have requested this on the application form.

However, I wish - actually, NEED - to enter the UK several months prior to my course start date. Therefore, I would like to know if applying for a 6 month tier 1 general visitor visa would allow me to enter a few months earlier?

Would that be an issue since my tier 4 student visa is already being processed, would this be possible?

If not, is there any way I can get into the UK a couple of months sooner than my course start date?

There is no "Tier 1 (General) visitor visa"!

There's a "general visitor" visa which is issued for / valid for 6 months.

1. Are you a non-visa national?
2. What is the start date of Tier 4 leave you have requested?
3. When do you wish to enter UK?

As far as i know, there's no such permit as a 'Tier 1 General Visitor' visa. I think you mean the 'General Visitor' visa.

If your Tier 4 Student visa application is already being processed, this would mean that you're currently without your passport - so you won't be able to make another application without it unless you withdraw your previous application in order to make a fresh application in another visa category.

In my opinion, you'll just have to wait for the outcome of your Tier 4 student visa application.

2. What is the start date of Tier 4 leave you have requested? NOT YET KNOWN BUT I HAVE REQUESTED ONE MONTH PRIOR TO STUDY START DATE WHICH WOULD BE 1 SEPT. (STUDY START DATE IS 1 OCT.)

3. When do you wish to enter UK? BEGINNING OF AUGUST
