Dutch - Egyptian couple: family re-union issues

Post by Marusha » Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:17 pm

Dear All,

We are seeking your advice on the following issue:

I am Dutch married to Egyptian have been living in Egypt 2 years currently considering relocation to the Netherlands or any EU county. As far as i know in order to re-unite with the family in Holland , my husband has to apply for MVV in Egypt. And I have to prove that i am financially secure to invite my husband. But I have not been working for two years - zero income from my side. Feels like all procedure is unbearable exhausting and time consuming.

Are there any other ways to bring my husband to NL? Can he travel to NL with tourist visa and then be legalised in NL? If not NL, is there any other EU country with less strict procedures?

You could both move to another EU country (not NL). After 6 months of you (NL National) exercising treaty rights in X EU country, you can both move to the Netherlands with very little problem. UK and Ireland require a Family Permit for your husband to join you.
Thank you everyone in this forum.
