Unmarried partner visa

Hi,
I'm starting a new post as I can;t seem to find many posts about the unmarried partner visa application process.

has anyone been through this and can shed some light?

I'm an aussie and my boyfriend of 3 years is english. We've been living together for 2 years and have lots of proof (bills for each month, etc). But it's be great to know
* is it best to apply in person? would anyone recommend going with an agency or is that for suckers?
* do i need to bring proof of our relationship like photos, emails, etc?
* do i need my partner's proof of employment as well as mine?
* what else should i bring, any surprise questions I should look out for?

You need to give more information. At present you haven't said whether you are switching from one visa to another and what status you have in the UK at present.
An application for Unmarried Partner comes under a great deal of scrutiny.
You'll need to submit evidence of a relationship 'akin to marriage' throughout the full 2 years, together with bank statements, pay slips etc showing that you are able to support yourselves financially. You also need to show that you have adequate accommodation. I'm assuming you're both over 21.
By the way, regarding surprise questions...if you apply at a PEO, you aren't interviewed. The application will be approved or rejected depending totally on the strength of the paperwork submitted.
