Reference number

Post by KV » Wed Jul 07, 2004 10:30 am

What is the meaning of ref. number 19000/01...i dont understand the meaning of /01. I applied in May.

Also, how do we come to know about when the case is assigned to case worker.

01 could refer to 'first' application - your guess is as good as mine

Do they follow different naming convention for below 28 and above 28 applications? mine was below 28.

All along i have been reading application number123xx 124xx etc...where as i have got the full 5 digit number with /01...

should i ask them the meaning of the same?

Well mine is above 28. But there are plenty of below 28 s here and still we ain't heard of this before. You should put this to HO customer care i think.

Any views from other under 28 applicants ?

Well Mini, thats really strange, mine and four of my friends are under 28 and no one of us have got slash / in our ref. no.

I would say discuss with HO directly.

I wrote to them. Lets see.

btw, some people write it like 0196xx, some people write 0123**...is it the same that is mentioned on your ref number or people deliberately truncate last two digits and add xx or ** for that?

Well Kayalami, it may be relevant to guess the timeframe for decision. If by putting slashes, they have devised certain special naming convention (for urgent processing/delayed processing/ missing documents etc) then its worth knowing.

Other than that, there is no real impact.
