Changing my name on passport + OCI

Hello all,

I am a UK citizen and am looking to change my surname on my passport. It is set to be renewed in July 2012. I also have a OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India). What I would like to know, is what would be the procedure in changing the surname in my OCI and my passport? Is it neccesary and how long will it take? Will I be able to use my OCI, if it has a different surname to my passport?

you might want to post on the group for other countrie,s lots of posts down there about OCI etc. would expect that if you can show you are one and the same no need to change but ask those with OCIs to give their experience
