What does V1080786 mean? am I banned?

Post by evoufo » Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:52 am

Need help.
I applied for PSW in 2008 after my Master and was refused because I didn't keep money in my account for 2 months. I made an appeal but the judge refuse. I then made a second appeal to the senior judge and that was refused too.
Because I was taking a professional certificate, I didn't want to live straightaway. My sollicitor then advised me to apply for FLR(O) before the judge decision comes out so that I will still be legal in the country. I did it and my application remained at HO for more than six months.
Meanwhile, I had My professional certificate and did'nt want to stay in the UK anymore. I call the home office asking advice on passport withdrawal. They told me it's easy, just a phonecall and the passport will be sent back. I then told the officer that I will start packing my stuffs and as soon as I am ready, I will withdraw my passport.
But a week later, they sent me a letter asking me to go the UKBA to take my passport and advise me to leave the country on my own will otherwise I will be found and removed.
I went to the UKBA, the gave a form to fill and sign and asked me to come back with a flight ticket. I did it and they gave me a phone number and told me that an officer will handle my passport back at the airport. I asked the officer if this means that I will be banned, he answer no, it has nothing to do with ban.
When I open my passport at the airport, I saw on the top of my expired Visa wrote: V1080786
I don't know what this means. I am working now in my country as operations managers (a very good position) and I am happy with that. but sometime I would like to visit UK, to see my friends and spend my holidays.
I don't know whether I am banned or not.
Or should I apply for a visit visa with no fear.
I left the UK In December 2009, it is been 1 and half year now

Thanks for your help

That looks lime your UK BA Reference number. Does your surname start with a letter "V" ?

Have you been served any UK Immigration Service forms ? They start with IS and then have some numbers, like IS96, IS151A etc.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes my surname starts with V.
I think the form I signed in the UKBA was a IS151A.
I was served with the form and left the country on on December 7th.
What does this form mean?
Can I apply for a visit visa nowadays?

I thought so.

IS151 is normally (depending on the letter following it A,B,D) a removal order.

The 'V' number in your passport is your Home Office Reference number, it doesn't necessarily signify that you committed any offence. Perhaps some part of your last visa or LTR endorsement was underlined? That would signify that you made an application which was refused, and the caseworker just added the HO number for easy reference in the future.
An IS151A is the form served on an immigration offender, normally an illegal entrant or overstayer. If you were regarded as having committed an offence you would have been served with the form advising you of the offence, and that you were liable to detention, followed either by an IS91R advising you why you were being detained, or an IS96 granting you temporary release. You say you were given a form to fill in and sign. The only IS151 form that requires the subject's signature is the IS151D which notifies him of the removal directions (the actual flight he's leaving on) and requires his acknowledgement that he's been made aware of the baggage restrictions (many refuse to sign it anyway).

From your description of your case, it looks as if they didn't get as far as treating you as an offender, they just asked you to leave and you did. I very much doubt that you are subject to any ban. If you are now well-established in your own country with a good job, an application for a visit visa should be considered on its merits.
