Tier 1 and Tier 2 changes announced today

Post by berdjy » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:40 pm

Switching from a Tier 4 or Student category into Tier 2 (General), Tier 2 (Sportsperson) or Tier 2 (Minister of Religion)

Documents we require as evidence of completion of a course of study

If you are switching from a Tier 4 category, Student, Student Nurse, Student Re-Sitting an Examination or a Student Union Sabbatical Officer, you must have successfully completed a course which lasted at least one academic year during your most recent period of Tier 4, Student, Student Nurse, Student Re-Sitting an Examination or a Student Union Sabbatical Officer leave (this is your current leave if it has not yet expired) and meet the full points requirement of Tier 2 in order to switch.

Switching from a Tier 4 or student category into Tier 2 (General), Tier 2 (Sportsperson) or Tier 2 (Minister of Religion)

If you are switching from one of the following categories:
* Any Tier 4 category
* Student
* Student Nurse
* Student Re-Sitting an Examination
* Student Union Sabbatical Officer

you can only switch into Tier 2 if you meet the following criteria:

* During your most recent period of leave in any of the above categories, you • completed a course of study. You do not need to have received your results yet, but you must have sat your final examination (where there is one) and handed in any final pieces of work. Please note that if you have only completed part of a course (for example, the first two academic years of a three year course), you will not be considered as having completed the course.

* That course of study must have been at least one academic year in duration. An academic year is the period of time that the institution you studied is open and providing courses each year. Usually an academic year is from September one year until June the following year. There may be some variations, but we would not consider any courses shorter than 8 months as being an academic year in length.

* You meet in full all other requirements of the category you are switching into.

18. You must provide an original academic reference on official headed paper of the institution 18. and must clearly show:
* your name; and
* the course title/award; and
* the course duration; and
* date of course completion. If you have not yet completed your course this date must • not be more than 30 days from your date of application.

19. The academic reference must include all the information detailed .above.

Its kinda meaningless reply, really, but...

think about it.... this announcement is really for people, who are currently, on tier 4 visa. This thread would be useful to those who frequent tier 4 forum and looking for options such as tier 1 or tier 2.

Tier 2 forum belong to people who are currently on tier 2 or work permit etc or looking to switch into tier 2 via other temp visa.

But then again, im a nobody in this forum so i guess we can post wherever, whatever the hell we like.

Cheers anyway

you see my point is... you should be seeing this thread in Tier 4 forum... You should not NEED to come to Tier 2 forum to find out this sort of thread.

Fine... if you wanna come to Tier 2 forum and ask about questions related to switching from tier 4 to tier 2... but this thread is basically a copy-paste info and should be started in Tier 4

ho hum

people generally look at tier 4 to find out applying in the tier 4 category.

this information is relevent to those wanting to switch into tier 2 and therefore is fine here. Not sure why it is such an issue.

The right place to post the criteria for a Tier 2 application is the Tier 2 section. Post it in the Tier 4 section as well if you like arsenal69.
