Travelling during EEA2 application

Dear all,

My girlfriend and I are looking forward to be married this coming August and looking to apply for EEA2. We will applying through her status as student.
I understand that she will need to have her letter of study conformations and a private medical insurance cover.
The problem is she will need to make a trip to Hong Kong and her passport might be a problem. I know that using an ID card is possible for applying EEA2, but she has been out of Sweden since 8 and does not have a Swedish ID.
My question is
1) Could she use a UK driving license?
2) if applying as a student she also need to prove that she have insufficient funds, so how much is enough?
3) do we need to prove that we have a durable relationship at this stage after we married?

correct.

1) Could she use a UK driving license?

No. But she can request for her passport back in any time and it will not affect the application. When will she travel to HK? Your can either apply after she return or apply and ask for the passport back.

2) if applying as a student she also need to prove that she have insufficient funds, so how much is enough?

There isn't a formal figure. General guidance is to have enough money not to be burden on public funds. If she got scholarships or funding from Sweden that counts also. She should have enough money to cover tuition + about £600-800 a month.

3) do we need to prove that we have a durable relationship at this stage after we married?

No. A marriage certificate is enough. You can attach a cover letter detailing your relationship if you think your case might cause the HO to suspect it to be a "sham marriage". I would not go into sending any more evidence. If the HO will need more evidence, they can always ask for it.

We had further look into other topic in the forum and thought that applying EEA1 might help our application.
My question is

1) What is the lead time to apply for EEA1?

2) We are planning to get married this coming 11th Aug. and I will applying for EEA2 after that. It is advisable for her to apply for EEA1 now as a single status?

3) How do we prove that we had a durable relationship apart from marriage certificate?

1) What is the lead time to apply for EEA1?

Similar to EEA2. 3-4 months although there is also a same day service. The main reason for the delays is the backlog of applications, not the decision time.

Congratulations. No point really to apply now. Better to apply together (EEA1 + EEA2) as the supporting documents would be the same.

There is no need to prove that if you are married. As I said, you can attach a letter detailing your relationship and its history but it is not legally required (text example: we met in [date] [place], we have been living together in [place] since [date]. We have a joint bank account since [date]. We got married in [place] on [date]. Please find attached our marriage certificate. Have your EU wife sign it).

I just wanted to add another option for your fiancee who is gonna have the trip and she doesnt have Swedish ID for that she has to submit her passport for EEA applications.

I suggest her to try to apply for an ID from Swedish Embassy which should be really quick. I am not sure how they do work but it should be pretty straightforward. You still have time till you get married so that could be done and you wouldnt have to worry about requesting passport back which is likely to turn into a catastrophy.
