New path to citizenship rules

Post by Jon.Scott » Wed Jul 27, 2011 5:04 pm

Anyone have an up to date link on what changes are expected and when.
Googling the subject comes up with lots of info from 2009, but we have a new Gov now so where are we?

Much of it may still be speculation, in which case what are people speculating?

My own personal interest is in changes they will affect my non-British wife who has just made her ILR application. However, I'm sure others would be equally interested in an update.

Thanks
Jon

All the "earned" or "probationary" citizenship stuff from 2009 has been dropped by the coalition government. No worries about that anymore. No changes are currently in the horizon for naturalization.

They actually now started a consultation on the family path (spouses etc.) in order to possibly increase the probationary period for ILR from 2 to 5 years but since your wife is applying now she will not be affected.

Thanks Backer

Glad we're getting in before they start slamming the door, but I really feel for those who come after.
