Tax Credit

Hi everyone,

I need help understanding tax credit. I moved to UK in Sept 2010 and started working in Feb 2011 chnaged job in May 2011. my working hours are more than 30 a week and my taxc code is 747L. How can i apply for tax credit? Are we eligible on tier 1?

if you have no recourse to public funds, which is the case if you have a Tier 1 visa, then you cannot claim tax credits, as these fall within UKBA's definition of public funds.

The only exception is if you are from a country where there are reciprocal arrangements with the UK? what is your nationality?

PS mods can this be moved to the claiming benefits section?
