Question regarding US Perminant Residency.

Post by rossa » Fri Aug 05, 2011 12:49 am

I would like to find out how long it would take for a UK citizen to get Perminant Residency status though a sister who is a full US citizen while within the United States? I have been trying to find a rough figure on processing dates and can't find anything really concrete. Does anyone know how long it'll take while living within the US? Any advice would be appreciated.

I assume that your sister is an adult who either lives in the US or would move there with you? Have a look at the Visa Bulletin:

For family preference F4 (brothers and sisters of adult US citizens) the waiting time is currently about 11 years, except for natives of Mexico or the Philippines. Of course, this is only how long people have waited who are now getting their visas - there is no way to tell exactly how long you are going to have to wait.

I have a friend who applied about 15 years ago, back then it would take some 5 years.
