Can you request your passport back during HTLR application?

Does anyone know if you can request your passport back when you have submitted it to the Department of Justice with a Humanitarian Leave to Remain application?

My fiancé and I are getting married soon and the Marriage Registrar has informed us that he needs his passport on the day, even though we already produced it at the marriage notification stage.

Extremely worried so any advice appreciated.

Does the department know that you guys are getting married? Ask your solicitors if they can get it from the department if not then the only option is to get a new one from the embassy declaring the original one is with the DOJ and they are not releasing it + you need it considering your circumstances.

Yeah the department know we are getting married. Yeah we have asked the solicitor to request it back but I am just really worried in case they play hardball and won't return it.

The people in his embassy are w**kers!! And for a re-issue of passport or lost/stolen passport they request a copy of your current GNIB card, which he does not have... We would probably be waiting AGES aswell, and we only have 2 and a bit weeks left
