ILR HELP PLEASE

Post by Gamini » Tue Aug 09, 2011 5:18 pm

I was in single occupant discount. After my wife joined with me I telephoned the council to include my wife name and they told me it will be included. I was paying by direct debit. When I received next year council tax bill, at that time only I realised that my wife name has not been added and they did not take payment in last year as well. As I was paying by direct debit I did not realise that. I went to council and paid back the money explaining the story.

I am due to apply ILR next month.

Will this have impact on my ILR application? Should I go through solicitor?

No, as you re-paid the money and it was a genuine error.

Thanks for your reply Casa.

Eventhough it is an error, will not come under public fund? Some case worker may not consider as a genuine error, if it is a public fund.

Thanks.

No, because when you tick the ILR application form it's to say whether you're claiming now, which you're not.
Also the single person discount isn't a Public Fund..although as you're aware you aren't entitled to this discount when you are living as a couple.
You've refunded the money due, which is what matters.
