Working more than 20 hours

Post by silverchloride » Fri Aug 12, 2011 10:14 am

Hi friends,

What are the rules and regulations with regards to working on Tier 4. I have had two jobs while studying but I've never worked more than 20 hours, but when I was off from University, I used to work 35 hours, etc. And eversince my studies finished in Late May, I've worked full time.

Just slightly concerned about this - Do you guys have any information on how critical this could be? Any past cases/relevant news/refusals, etc?

It is as simple as ..... in term-time for you, limited to 20 hours per week .... outside term-time for you, unlimited number of hours.

Your course has finished, so by definition you are outside term-time.

When does your Tier 4 visa actually expire? Obviously you cannot work with an expired visa.

expires on the 31/10/11. I was just kinda worried about it - I'm sure I havent worked more than 20 hours during term time. But when I didnt have classes I did work a little more.

It'd be interesting to see references to any cases/examples of applications where the ground of refusal was based on this?

I am a Canadian. I was just recently refused at the UK Border. I am on a pre Tier 4 student visa. My course of study ended in July 2011 but my visa was valid until 31 Jan 2012. I was refused entry because I was not a student, even though I had a valid visa. I was stranded in Brussels - had no help from the Canadian or British Embassies. Now I'm in the process of applying for a PSW visa from Canada. Wish me luck! :)
