Can my husband apply from my marriage visa while Im abroad?

Hi, Im married to a Uk citizen and we are in the process of applying for my marriage visa, Im not currently in the UK, My husband has already contacted an immigration law firm in London and they said that they will apply for my marriage visa from inside the UK and after a while I'll get a call telling me to go to the British embassy in my country to take my biometric details.

My question is : is it possible for my husband to apply for my spouse visa for me while Im not in the UK? the lawyers said yes and my husband already paid them.

I personally thought it would be YOU the applicant that must submit the application in your country of origin?!?

My husband is in Egypt. We used an immigration lawyer to help prepare are casethey were based in London UK. Once we had sent them everything document that was required of us, they then put our case together. They then sent his application package by DHL to Egypt for him to take to his submission apointment.

Can you tell us a bit more about your case? then myself and others could hopefully advise you.

Well, my passport is with me in Morocco, and yes I'm the applicant who will submit the application, the law firm he hired in the UK isnt good, its called UK and visa immigration, very slow, anyway, I emailed and then They said they will prepare the case and mail it to my husband who will mail it to me in my home country, so I understood that. " she said I need to email her my documents, just copies, I need to save the originals when I go to the embassy myself"

Can I ask you if your husband got the visa? What are the documents the law firm asked for? Did they give you any advice that you can share with me?

These are the documents:
From British Sponsor

1. Copies of passport must be certified

2. Copies of visas obtained to visit your spouse

3. Copies of ticket/boarding pass used to visit your spouse

4. Last 6 months bank statements

5. Last 6 wage slips

6. P60 or employment contract (if any)

7. Letter from accountant (if self employed)

8. Proof of tax paid (if self employed)

9. Proof of accommodation (tenancy agreement or mortgage statement)

10. Proof of saving (bank statement or saving/investment certificate if any)

11. Two proof of addresses (utility/council tax bill)

12. A letter confirming your relationship and how did you meet

13. Proof of communication (emails, calling cards, telephone bills etc)

14. Photographs of holidays/outings together before wedding and after

15. Marriage certificate (must be translated into English if in other language)

16. Ceremonial photographs (wedding/reception photographs)

17. Wedding invitation cards/letters

18. Two testimonials from family/friends who has attended your wedding

19. Proof of money sent by you to your spouse (if any)

20. Decree absolute (if you were previously married)

21. Any bills/receipts/invoices from hotels/restaurants confirming your stay or wedding expenses

22. Statutory Declaration (we will draft that for you)

Thank you for your response!! now your situation makes more sense to me. It sounds very simlar to me and my husband.

I am a British Citizen and my husband is from Egypt.

We used 'Uk Visa and Immigration' too. I have to say in their their defense, they were brilliant with us. We produced the same documents that you have listed above. There is nothing they can do right now, as you need to provide them with these documents. Once they have everything, you scanned documents and your husbands orginals, they will turn your case around in a matter of days!!!!

They sent the completed file straight to my husband via DHL which was cheaper than me sending it..

We are currently waiting for our visa outcome, Egypt have a back log to get through, given the recent unrest... so inshallah we will get good news soon.

If I can be any help at all to you, i will be! I put our visa application together, so I am very familiar with the whole process

Wow!! The same company, what are the odds?? I'm glad they are OK, seriously I was so stressed and worried they might be a fake scam , my husband said let's do it on our own and forget the 500 pounds we paid them!!
Ok so I will do what you said, I will send them all the documents and tell them to mail it to me, did they write the sponsoring letter for you too?
I'm sure the waiting is very painful, did you give them enough evidence? Ive read from people's experiences the more evidence ,the better.
So you did submit the application? how far was the interview? My plan is to book the interview next week, before I receive the english test results;so right after I get the results, next day I go to the embassy.
I hope and pray you hear an answer very soon and your husband joins you and live happppy ever after!!!!!

Well we found them to be very good ourselves. They are very helpful too


I didnt have to write a sponsorship letter, I had to write a letter of confirmation, which outlined my relationship with my husband, how we met, how long we had been together etc

I did have to fill out a Sponsorship Undertaking form, which they sent me, once that had all our documents.

With regards to the amount of evidence. Its a tricky one, as each couple will have a different amount on how loing they have been together... in a nutshell they need a substantial amount of proof, not too little and not too much, that they might miss something vital. Does that make sense? for instance my hubby and I have hundreds of photos, but we sumitted approx 9 different sets 5 photos ion each, that spanned the length of our relationship, up to our wedding and reception.

My hubby submitted his application in Cairo, he was not interviewed when he gave it in, they took his biometrics, paid his fee, and was gievn a reciept.

I had a phone call on Monday 08/08/11, that was simply just verifying that he was still my husband and that he still wanted to come to the UK. Then they called my work to verify my employment details.

Nothing too taxing hehehehe...

Now we wait!
