Using the Fiencee visa before the wedding ?

Post by Pyromaniac » Fri Aug 25, 2006 7:20 am

The fiencee visa once issued is valid for 6 months - within that time we must be married of course - no problem there.

Once it is issued - can it only be used to come and get married ?

meaning - can my fiencee use this visa to come here beforehand to visit and help prepare for the wedding, meet the vicar, see the church, meet family and so on, effectively use it as a visit visa prior to the wedding for one time.

Or after using it to arrive in the UK does she have to be married on that visit?

Rewording your question to simply ...... "Is a fiancée visa multi-entry?" .... the answer to that is "yes"! So she is certainly not tied to the UK once she first arrives in the UK.

However your use of the words "visit visa" is not correct. A fiancée visa is a type of settlement visa, but those settled here are allowed to leave and then return.

Does that help?

Except in exceptional circumstances all visas issued by the UK are now multi-entry.

As always - yes it does help, thankyou John, so there should be no problems after getting the visa for her to come here - go home again then come here later to get married ( within the 6 months it is valid. )
Excellent
