Marriage In China to come back to UK???

Post by PeterUK2011 » Sun Aug 21, 2011 6:34 pm

Dear Readers,

I am sorry to ask this but could any spare the time to explain this information?

Would be more understandable in bullets and indentations ?

http://ukinchina.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for ... -marriage/

There are many if's and howevers, I have to stay in china before marriage? unless the residence visa is approved?

It is all very complicated.

Thank you for any help and assistance

It doesn't look that complicated to me. There seem to be two ways of completing the prenuptial formalities:-

1. If you're not resident in China you would need a minimum of 42 days in the country before you can go and get married – this is made up of an initial 21 days waiting period, towards the end of which you would go to the relevant British Consulate and complete a Notice of Intention to Marry. The Consulate displays this for 21 days and in the absence of any objections they will issue a Certificate of No Impediment (valid for 6 months), which you present to the Registry Office where you will get married.

2. If you're in the UK get a Certificate of No Impediment from your local Registry Office. This can either be validated in the UK via FCO and the Chinese Consulate, or in China at the relevant British Consulate. In this case there doesn't seem to be any waiting time in China. The Chinese Registry Office where you get married must be local to your fiancee's place of residence.

That's the way I read it, anyway.
