Sponsoring a family member who is also my fiance?

Post by wakasmasood » Tue Aug 23, 2011 6:01 pm

Hi,

I am currently a british born student in Nottingham. I went back to my familys native country Pakistan where I fell in love (blush) and got engaged. The female who I am engaged is 17 and I am 18. What I was wondering was would it be possible to sponsor her on a general visit for 6 months or less? My fiance is also a long distance relative of mine hence why I am posting this in the family members section. I have had a look at the requirements needed and everything looks possible she is currently under the guardian of her family and her oldest brother handles all the expenses for her and in UK my family would take care of that. I know the main question the UKBA would be thinking is if we are going to marry. This is a total no no as she is also studying so she WILL go back. What my question is what are the chances of her receiving a visa? and what/any documents could i add on to make the application even stronger?

The UKBA won't be worrying that she will marry as that wouldn't legalise her stay. They'll be worrying that with a fiance in the UK, she won't have a strong reason to return. You need to prove in the application that she will and give valid reasons for that. Evidence of long term study would help.

Anything else that may demonstrate strong ties to her home country. This may be difficult as at her age she's unlikely to own property and isn't in full time employment, or presumably have any dependents there. Focus on proving that she is committed to completing her studies.
She should be absolutely honest in the information given in the application and about your relationship. If not, it will only create problems for further visa applications in the future.
