Settling in India

Post by eliasuk4u » Thu Aug 25, 2011 9:06 pm

Hello all,

Hoping that some Indian experts can shed some light on my friends scenario.

Subject A is married to British citizen of Indian origin. Subject A is also a Naturalized British citizen who is of SriLankan origin. Now the situation is that Subject A's wife wants to go back to India for few years due to family situation. She is eligible and can get OCI card but Subject A can't due to his previous nationality (SriLlankan).
The question is there any other way in which subject A could accompany his wife to India??? He knows about 'X' visa but that doesn't allow him to do any job 'legally'.

Hope to get response from you guys.

Thanks

your question is not clear..if Subject A just want to go live there for few years and work there as well....or want to settle down there?

Subject wants to live (Work as well to survive financially) in India for good few years say 3 Years. Obviously being a foreigner he can't expect all the rights of a Indian citizen and He is clear that he is not interested in Indian Citizenship either. Subject A just wants to go to India with his wife. Is there anything similar to UK spouse visa where one can work and stay?

There is no ' spouse visa' for foreign nationals of Indian origin.
OCI holder has two options for her spouse- tourist visa or x entry visa, although x visa is technically for spouse of E(employment) visa holder.
