AN application - Previous addresses don't need exact date

Post by jonnyb » Tue Aug 30, 2011 11:30 pm

I had been searching for an answer in the forums about what to do if you don't remember your exact moving dates when filling in the section on previous addresses. A few people implied that it might be OK just to put down the months, without the day. As far as I could see, though, no one could confirm whether that was really accepted by the HO.

Anyway, I rang them up today and asked. For the record, in case anyone else is wondering this in future – yes, that's fine. The advice I got was to put down month and year only (rather than guess at the day), then put a note in the 'extra information' section of the form saying that you don't have a record of the exact moving day.

Also, in case it's useful to anyone: in my history I have a period of a few weeks where I was staying at a friend's place in between leases. The lady on the phone said I didn't have to put that address down, though it couldn't hurt. And she said it's a good idea to put a little note in the extra information section about situations like that too.
