Has anyone had the need to put your employer/potential employer in touch with the UKBA helpline? If so, how did it go?

I know in theory, EEA are just a confirmation of a right and do not confer the right but will the Home Office tell the employers that? Or just tell them, "We are not able to answer general or specific enquiries, but off the record mate, If you don't see the stamp don't do it" I recently became one with that right but still awaiting confirmation, which my employer is now going to seek.

I just want to know what manner of hell to expect after they make that call, my passport still hasn't arrived so a passport + marriage cert isn't yet possible (especially if they're just waiting till the 10 working days is over to tell me they lost my passport, but I digress)

A bit of good/ok news, my employer just contacted me and said I am ok to start working. I am not sure what the HO said to them as the HR person I was expecting a call from for further information did not even need to contact me.

Now I'm not sure how much help the Home Office would have been (based on past experience) so I'm more inclined to believe the HO just read out some criteria for legality and left it to the employer to figure it out.

But they are very intelligent people and will have seen through the HO's legalese speak and possibly ended my heartache, possibly.... cos HO still haven't returned my passport (that could still be a sticking point cos I start next wk and passport should be due back this wk going by their 10 day thing)

Fingers crossed HO's slow-delivery policy is not the reason I miss out on this job.
