Fiance visa success - adverse immigration history

Post by JulieM71 » Sun Sep 04, 2011 9:58 am

Hi

My partner got his fiance visa yesterday......we're so excited and so happy!

His status online changed to "with courier" on Tuesday morning, but because of Eid the package was only delivered yesterday.....that was the longest 4 days of my life!

We applied in Cairo at the end of June, so only about 40 days or so, which also made me think it was going to be bad news as it seemed too quick for all the checks to be done and, in our case, there were no phone calls to confirm any information with anyone.

We feel very lucky as he has an adverse history (before I met him) and I have seen the file and I honestly thought we were going to have to appeal.

But, the strength of our relationship and support from family and friends + all the evidence we submitted must have swung the balance to enable the ECO to make a decision in our favour over and above my partner's past - it can happen!

We put together four A4 ring binders (the big ones!) 2 full of original documents and 2 with copies of everything. Incidentally, when my partner submitted the files at the Embassy they tried to make him remove some of the papers as they said there was too much and they could not accept it all. He was polite but firm, luckily our lawyer had warned us this may happen so he was prepared, and they took it all in the end.

I wrote a really long letter, he wrote one too, in which we both said sorry for past mistakes, talked about our relationship and set out the arguments as to why him coming here was the only option for us. I am sure this was what made the difference for us.

We feel very blessed and I totally empathise with everyone still waiting for their good news. We both send all of you all of our very best wishes.

J
