Who should write the covering letter?

Post by audicious12 » Tue Sep 06, 2011 8:38 am

Hi All,

I have a query on the covering letter.

Who should write the covering letter when applying the Tier 1 dependent visa when the main application already has Tier 1.

Should the main applicant write a sponsor letter indicating the documents or the dependent should write a covering letter with documents and main applicant should write a sponsor letter.

I know it is not mandatory but what is the best practice, if somebody wants to enclose.

thanks in advance,

This is not asked for or required and if you choose to include this type of document it would be on the basis that a particular aspect in the application was not clear and needed to be elaborated to show how it meets the requirements that are asked for in rules. So, the source and content of any such letter could not be to a standard format as it would have to address only the those issues that need explaining and are relevant to your situation. If there is nothing vague about your circumstances then don't include this. I hope this helps.

A "covering letter" is always written by the applicant (or written by someone else but signed by the applicant).

A sponsor / main migrant writes a "letter of support" to provide details of supporting documentary evidences and any other relevant information / documents that he / she is including to support the immigration application from the applicant.

As Lucapooka has already mentioned, whether one requires / wishes to include such letters is one's choice and based on personal circumstances. IMHO, they are helpful.
