CRB Check for ILR

Post by malepiscean » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:16 pm

Hi,
I went through all the posts on this topic and then researched ways to get a CRB check done for myself. Bottom line seems to be that:
1) Individuals cannot apply for CRB checks for themselves
2) "Umbrella companies" can apply on an individual's behalf - but still unless it is for the purposes of employment, working with children/vulnerable adults - such companies seem reluctant to do the same...

Here are my questions:
1) Ultimately, for the purposes of ILR the Home Office would need the conviction history of an individual, right?
2) Since, we're talking here of criminal convictions, traffic/driving offences etc... such data must be on the "Police National Computer" (PNC), right?
3) Then is it fair to conclude that for the purposes of ILR, getting the following done should be enough?

Apply for Access to Information held about me on the Police National Computer(PNC)
Direct link to application form

4) Has anyone done the same before for ILR?
5) If you still feel that there is a simpler, sure shot way to get the CRB through an umbrella company that you have a positive past-experience with can you please let me know?

Thanks.

I dont know of anyone who has to had get CRB check done for ILR application.

You just declare whether you have convictions in the right section of the form. if home office dont believe it they have to prove otherwise.

general principle in this country is not guilty until proven otherwise (rather than guilty until proven otherwise).

Agree. You are not requested or supposed to do CRB check on your own. All you have to do is to honestly answer all the relevant questions on the application form.
