Hi everyone!
I am a Norwegian citizen who is currently 19 years old. I am working here, and next year I am planning on going to the UK to study in University. I am also engaged to a Lebanese man which is 21 years old. He is currently here in Norway waiting to get his passport so he can travel home. He applied for asylum, but was refused this. He is also expelled from the Schengen area for 5 years. We are getting married in Lebanon next summer, and we would love it if there's a chance for us to stay together while I am in the UK studying instead of waiting 5 years.
So my question is, do you think there will be a problem for us that he is expelled from the Schengen area? As I have understood, the UK is not a part of the Schengen agreement, but will they still look at something like that and think that he may be a threat to their society?
I am also wondering how we should apply. Will a marriage certificate issued by a Lebanese church be accepted, or they may think it's fake? And what other documents should we include? Should we apply directly after we have gotten married (which will be around 24th of July 2012), or is it better if I go to the UK and start studying and then we apply?
I will be getting public support for my studies from the Norwegian government, will this be seen upon as enough for me and him once we are in the UK? We will of course both try to find a job as well.
He will also be working in Lebanon now when travels back home, but this will of course only be an average job which is probably ok in Lebanon, but the money he'll make will probably not be adequate in the UK, do they compare his income to the Lebanese average living costs or the UK's living costs?
I have alos looked at the EEA Application Form VAF5, and there it says that he should state any crimes or convictions. Is being expelled from the Schengen area seen upon as a "crime"? Is it necessary to even mention this in our application at all?
And just a final question, do I need evidence that I will be studying in the UK next year? Do I need a letter from the University or anything like that? If we will apply in the summer I haven't even travelled to the UK by that time, so I would of course not have an address or work or anything there at that time. Should I then show documents of my income for this year maybe?
Thank you VERY much if someone can answer this, we really want to make it work out and see if we even have a chance to stay together!
