Faster to apply directly to British High Commission?

Post by ilikepies » Thu Sep 08, 2011 9:22 am

Hello!

I'm currently halfway through the process of applying for my Tier 2 Work Sponsorship Visa and am due to fly out to Australia mid-October to send off all my documentation etc. I'm here at the end of my YMS now.

Two colleagues have just returned from Australia on their shiny new visas and rumour has it that if I were to directly apply at the British High Commission in Canberra then my visa application would be processed within the day. Does anyone know if this is true? I know the process via post takes around 7 working days (and I'm in no particular hurry) but thought that if there was a quicker way to go about it, then I'd jump at the opportunity!

Hope someone can help out and tell me if it's true or not! Cheers!

You can do biometrics in Canberra. There is nothing on the UK in Australia site to suggest that applications can be submitted (by post) anywhere other than by sending it to the UKBA postal address in Sydney from where they are forwarded to the regional EC Hub in Manila. My understanding is that this has been the situation since March.
