IELTS crisis please help!

Post by Angel592 » Fri Sep 09, 2011 1:10 pm

The UKBA states that you need band 6 or above to pass the IELTS exam. I got band 7.5! However, in my reading part I got 5.0. even though I got 9.0 in my speak, 8.0 in my listening and 7.5 in my writing. The university now says they cannot issue me with a CAS because I got 5.0 and not 5.5!! What do I do now, IM SOO CONFUSEDD I NEED HELP BADLY :(

If you need the CAS, you must meet the English language requirements (118(c)). Simple!

Write the exam again, if you have not attained the minimum score.

Thing is, the UKBA says you have to get a minimum of BAND 6 http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary

I got Band 7.5!

:(

If one wishes to apply for Tier 4 but refers to HSMP caseworker guidance (an unrelated immigration category that closed in 2006), one is vulnerable to making such wrong inferences.

How about reading the Tier 4 policy guidance? Alternatively, click on the links provided in my response above, and read the information therein.

Angel, this is "not fair" and upsetting... but you have to read a lot in university...

So all they want is that you have good all round knowledge of the language...

You have to be careful with UKBA website, they update it now every several months... :x

Is it? How?

An assumption unless you are aware (about the OP's case):
• when his/her Confirmation of Acceptance for studies was assigned;
• the type of course the Tier 4 (General) student is following; and
• the type of institution at which the Tier 4 (General) student will be studying.

Yeah it is :( even the university where actually surprised they were like how did u manage to get 5.0 .. because I've lived in Ireland all my life, English is practically my first language and I've got high grades in my Irish State Examinations.. I hate the way the UKBA page keeps updating :(

But it's fine, thanks everyone, I went to the university a bit ago and they booked me in for another exam on Monday, I'll probably just have to resit the reading, so wish me luck! :)
