How many extensions do you get on a Tier 1?

Post by Pranvayu » Fri Sep 09, 2011 2:49 pm

Hi,

Question is: What will happen if I haven't lived in the UK for 4 yrs 11months after 2nd extension times out?

My current Tier 1 is valid from Dec 2010 to Dec 2012. I started work in the UK from August 2011.

My original plan was to be in the UK for 3-4 years but now we would like to settle here permanently and I would like to plan things well in advance for my next extension as well as for PR (ILTR) afterwards.

My next extension in Dec 2012 will most likely grant 3 years extension taking it up to Dec 2015.

Now since, I've come to the country in Aug 2011 and suppose I remain until Dec 2015 the total time in the UK will be 4 years and 3 months. The requirement for PR (ILTR) is 4 years and 11 months or 5 years (?).

My question is, what will happen in Dec 2015? Will I get another extension for 1 year allowing me to file for PR (ILTR) once I complete 5 years or what ?

Bit confused and not able to find adequate answers on UKBA website. Please advise if you've gone throught or will be going throught similar issue.

You'll need to apply for a 2nd extension in 2015. Simples!
