Spousal visa- Sponsor requirements

Post by sleepless in slough » Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:18 pm

Hi everyone

Dont know where to start, but my wife is about to apply for a settlement visa, and I was hoping for some advice as to what I can do to in between the time she applies for the visa, and the time she receives it.

I'm currently employed full time in a very well paid job, however, I despise my job, and I've only stayed on because I thought it would be best to wait until my wife applies for the settlement visa.

I have thought at great length of going to visit my wife as soon as she applies for the visa, as I'm under the assumption that proof of employment only needs to be show at time of application, and any circumstances can occur between time of application and decision that could result in a sponsor being out of work, and surely the sponsor can't be made accountable for that.

Basically, can I leave my job and go and stay with my wife during the time of her application?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

In what country will your wife be applying? Some locations are quicker than others in processing applications. My wife received her decision in a couple of days, others can take upto 3 months.

What if the ECO calls your workplace to confirm the employment details you have given. It would not look good if you have since quit the job. They don't always call, but you can't be sure. Can you request holiday time/unpaid leave instead?

Do you or your wife have sufficient savings? Or can you use a family member as third party financial support? Those are two other ways to pass the maintenance part of the application. The sponsor being employed isn't mandatory.

Hi

Thank you very much for your response.

I'm applying from the UK and my wife is in Pakistan. I've taken all my holiday entitlement for this year to visit my wife whenever I can. I have more than enough savings, evidences of which I have provided to my wife to use in the application.

Many Thanks for your help.
