in-progress divorce

Post by mclaire » Tue Sep 20, 2011 4:16 pm

My wife and I filed for divorce last week. There is a 90 day delay between filing and the earliest it can become official.

I plan to send my documents tomorrow for a sponsored VISA, but have just discovered that they want my marriage certificate?

I indicated "separated" on the application. Would it be sufficient to send in a copy of the most important pages of the divorce filing? Our marriage certificate is at my old house and it would be an undertaking to obtain it by tomorrow. I could, but it would be an emotional and technical hassle.

Do you have any advice as to how I should describe/document my marital situation? I really need to have my visa processing go smoothly as I am hoping to be in the UK by a Nov. 1 start date.
