T2 job cancelled then its back!

Post by cally_222 » Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:28 pm

Special needs teaching post, started Aug 09,
new CoS and T2 visa Aug 10,
another CoS and visa July 11
letter from employer at start of term, Sept 11, saying no funds for post
employer tells UKBA no job
10 days later funds found and employer tells UKBA, sponsor helpline says ok put a note on the sponsorship BUT you need employee to check if visa has begun being cancelled
Phone the 0870 number and all the person will say is has the job been terminated, I say no but they wont tell me about the visa status. Where can i find out whats happening, who do I or the sponsor contact to cancel any cancellation?
Thanks
S

The sponsor must inform / coordinate with UKBA ... it is them and not you who requested cancellation.

Thats what I would have thought but it was sponsor helpline that told the sponsor I was to call to find out visa status - seems daft but they wouldnt tell sponsor the status? Or did the helpline just want to move the query on?

If UKBA suggests that you can enquire your own immigration status, then you may.
Your employer can call the Sponsorship and employers' helpline to enquire about your eligibility to work / live / remain in the UK.

But if UKBA suggests that your leave has been curtailed (as a result of the initial sponsorship cancellation), then IMHO it will be your employer and not you who will be able to work out the way forward for you.
