urgent question about visitor visa

Hello All forum users.
I am US citizen. Two years ago, I came to UK on post study work visa and lived in uk for two years to work. My visa expire one week ago so I am now back in US. However now I still need to go back to UK to settle some outstanding issues with the bank and my employer in UK. I also want to do some travelling around Wales and Scotland. My question is: Can I come back to UK as a visitor now one week after just spent two years in Uk on post study visa? I am thinking of staying for two months as visitor to settle some personal issues and do traveling.

Second question is will I need to appy for visitor visa in US first before booking my flight.

When I go pass UK border agency, do I automatically get 6 months valid stay as visitor on my passport? I plan on staying in UK only 2 months and then come back to US to settle. However in April I am schedule for a training in UK for two months. Can I still use my traveller visa that was issue to me for 6 months or will I get a new one everytime I travel inside UK?

As you're probably aware, US nationals don't have to get a visa to travel to the UK as a visitor. On arrival, you would get an entry stamp (not a visa) valid for up to 6 months. However, when you leave the UK the validity of that entry stamp lapses, and the next time you come back you are effectively seeking entry afresh, and get another entry stamp (if you're admitted).

It's ok to come back as a visitor after a stay of 2 years as long as you can show absolutely clear plans of what you're going to do during the visit, and, most importantly, that you need to go back to the USA on a certain date for job or study purposes. Next April, for a two-month training session, you should be admissable as a business visitor if you're employed in the US and are travelling on behalf of your employer who will presumably be paying for your travel and basic subsistence.

Does this rule apply to Canada also. e.g canadian citizen with canada passport also don't have to get a visa to travel to UK as visitor?
