Passport application - documents required

Post by ramesheuk » Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:36 pm

Hi,

We (Family of 2 adults and 2 children) are about to apply for British passports as we got our naturalisation approval letters (for all of us) and Ceremony is scheduled for coming Monday.

I need small information about the supporting documents for passport application:

For me and my wife:

1) Naturalisation certificate (given by council)
2) Present Passports (along with any expired passports).

For my son (Born in India and naturalised with us)
1) Naturalisation certificate (given by council)
2) Present passport (along with any expired passports)

For my second son (Born in the UK - But until now on Indian passport and naturalised along with us)

Can I send same as above (Naturalisation certificate and present passport?)? Or do I need to send his birth certificate?
We laminated his birth certificate and our marriage certificates. So little bit worried. (Actually we laminate both children's birth certificates and our marriage certificate).

Please advice me.

Thanks in advance.

For the UK born child, the IPS are likely to ask for the UK birth certificate.
They don't accept laminate documents. You can order a copy of the birth certificate from the the GRO (there is online service). I don't think you need to send the marriage certificate.

It somewhat depends to an extent on who you get at the post office (if you use check and send). In my case, i had taken quite a bit of documentation with me (marriage certs, birth certs, parents british pport copies).

The PO retruned everything and for me and my wife only took:

1) Our oversea passports
2) Naturalisation certificates
3) For my wife's application our marriage cert .

For my son

1) Overseas passport
2) Naturalisation certificates
3) Overseas birth certificate.

Ofcourse, if you're sending your application directly. IPS will contact you in due course and ask for any further documentation if you miss something out.
